This is probably news that some of you don’t want to hear, but we are close to leaving beta. We’ll send out an e-mail with advanced notice about pricing and when we’ll shut down free access.

Don’t worry, it’s not that bad. You can ride TrainerRoad for 15-20 years before you spend the same amount that you do on some power meters.

The good news is that if we get enough sign ups, Reid and I can do this full time, which means we can REALLY start building this thing out and change the industry.

What we’ve built is just the beginning and we have big-big plans. Some of them you guys have asked for on our suggestion page, some you have not. I think we can make the Trainer so much more fun, motivational and competitive than it already is.

My second week working on TrainerRoad, way back in aug ’10, I had an idea and was so excited that I called Reid right away. I couldn’t stop talking about all the possibilities. That idea hasn’t been built yet, but everything we’ve done so far has been the foundation for that.

I hope that enough of you value our service that you’re willing to give us a little bit of money, so that we can keep building upon what we have and make these ideas come to life.

As a lot of you already know, we’re not a big company. We’re two guys with wives, babies and full time jobs. We started TrainerRoad over a year ago with our own money with dreams of making the trainer fun while letting us do work that we love.

I really think we are the best (and will be for a while) value in cycling. I can’t think of a better way to spend your money that will make you faster, save more time and motivate you more for the amount of money.

But of course, I would think that.
